Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers appeared to support Donald Trump following Saturday’s shooting.
On Sunday, Ewers posted photos of the former U.S. president on his Instagram Stories page. He first shared the widely circulated picture of Trump holding up his fist after getting shot at during an election rally in Pennsylvania. Secret Service rushed him to safety after getting his ear bloodied in an apparent assassination attempt.
Ewers, who is entering his third season at Texas and is a top 2025 NFL Draft prospect, also cropped Trump’s head onto a photo of a 50 Cent album cover while playing the song “Many Men.”
Trump called for the United States to “stand united” after Saturday’s harrowing event. The presumptive Republican nominee said he will attend this weekend’s national convention in Milwaukee as scheduled despite the attempt on his life.
A 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks was identified as the gunman after law enforcement agents shot and killed him shortly after he opened fire.
According to reports, a local policeman confronted Crooks but did not stop him before he was able to begin shooting. The Bethel Park, Pa. native reportedly also had bomb-making materials in his car and at his family’s home.
An investigation into the attack remains ongoing as of Sunday night.
