The former consensus five-star prospect reportedly spent two days on campus in Seattle before departing.
The troubled career of former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Johntay Cook continued its troubling trajectory on Tuesday with reports emerging from Seattle that the DeSoto product left the Washington Huskies program after about two days on campus.
A source confirms to @On3sports that Johntay Cook and Washington have parted ways. The Texas transfer was on campus for roughly 48 hours before the decision was made.
Nothing is clear on the next step for Cook, but Huskies will dip into the portal to address WR position. https://t.co/n0vpLIoOx5

Cook had signed with the Huskies on January 7 following his commitment to Washington late last month.
The departure from a second program in the last two months comes after the “mutual” decision for Cook to leave Texas in early November.
“Obviously, we’ve had some roster movement today with Johntay Cook moving on. We have nothing but respect for he and his family. Wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors,” Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian said at the time.
Players with Cook’s talent and remaining eligibility are typically valuable commodities in the transfer portal — the 6’0, 185-pounder was the No. 29 player overall and the No. 3 wide receiver in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings — but outspoken and toxic behavior on social media impacted Cook’s available options.
And now a path forward is even more difficult for Cook with classes starting around the country, meaning that he’ll likely have to wait to enroll at his next destination until the summer with the market for his services continuing to shrink.
