The Arch Manning era at Texas should be underway next year.
According to Anwar Richardson, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers plans to enter the 2025 NFL Draft after the season, a move that should surprise nobody since that was always the plan heading into the season.
“Sources say Quinn Ewers still plans to declare for the NFL Draft after this season, paving the way for Arch Manning to take over in 2025. Manning is locked in with Texas and coach Steve Sarkisian, with no plans to transfer. Right now, both are dialed in on Clemson,” Richardson tweeted.

Ewers returned for the 2024 season with the goal of helping Texas win a national title and to improve his draft stock. He hasn’t accomplished his first goal yet but he should still be one of the first quarterbacks taken during next year’s draft.
He’s been a bit banged up at times this season but when he’s been healthy, he’s played well. In 11 games, he is completing 66.2% of his passes for 2,665 yards through the air, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
He’ll look to improve upon those numbers when Texas takes on Clemson in one of the first-round College Football Playoff games. The winner of that contest will move on to play Arizona State in the Peach Bowl.
Once this season ends, Texas will move forward with Manning for at least the next two seasons. He played sparingly this season but still looked the part when he was on the field, throwing for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and only two interceptions.
He’ll have another full offseason of development before he becomes the full-time starter for next season.
Kickoff for the Texas-Clemson game will be at 4 p.m. ET on December 21.
