In a decision that likely delights Texas Longhorns fans and infuriates fans of every other college football team, an iconic gesture that mocks the Longhorns will not be in EA Sports’ College Football 25 this year.
According to Chris Vannini of The Athletic, the “Horns Down” hand signal will not be available for players to use during the game. Players will only be able to use the hand signals of their own team.
“I’ve been told that Horns Down will NOT be in the video game,” Vannini wrote on X. “Only hand signals for your own team.”
Fans decried the decision, calling it cowardly and lamenting how great it would have been to be able to do that in game if they had the chance.
“choosing to throw two horns down after a big play and getting your player ejected would be comedy,” one user wrote.
“No Horns Down and no Mascot Mode? What a trash game,” wrote another.
“Texas still crying about “Horns down” they went to EA to stop it,” a third said with a laugh.
Current NCAA policy inflicts stiff punishments against players who flash the “horns down” sign during football games and other sporting events.
Did EA Sports make a mistake here by not enabling the hand gesture?
