While we were all waiting on the NFL Combine to make Xavier Worthy’s record-setting 40-yard dash runs official, two of the NFL’s best players loved what they saw.
One of the first NFL stars to comment on Worthy’s run when he posted a 4.25 40-yard dash on his first attempt was three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. “4.25… crazzyyyy,” he wrote on X.
But a few minutes later, Worthy broke his own mark and tied John Ross’ record, prompting Mahomes to correct himself. “my bad 4.22….” he wrote, adding a few laughing emojis.
Minutes later, an NFL star known to the wider world as one of the league’s fastest players gave his thoughts: Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
“4.2 is crazy sheesh,” Hill wrote.
Of course, the two NFL superstars were both off the mark as a few minutes later it was announced that Worthy actually broke the 40-yard dash record once computers measured that he ran a 4.21 40 time.
Worthy was already a fringe first-round pick before the NFL Scouting Combine. But after numbers like this, it seems inevitable that he becomes a first-round pick.
It’ll certainly be a shock if Worthy manages to fall past the Kansas City Chiefs, who could use a speedy wide receiver but don’t pick until No. 32 at the end of the round.
On the other hand, the Dolphins would probably love to add yet another blazing to pair with Tyreek Hill. They hold the No. 21 overall pick.
Where will Worthy be drafted now?
