We didn’t have a Will Levis or even Aaron Rodgers-style wait in the NFL Draft’s green room last night, but there was still plenty of top 30 and arguably top 20 talent still on the board and those players will be waiting to hear their names called later today.
Ahead of the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft tonight, ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has unveiled his top five players that are still waiting to hear their names called.
His top prospect that’s still available is Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean, who he had rated as the No. 14 overall prospect in the class. The only other player he had with a top 32 grade was Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, who graded in at 26th.
The remaining three players on his list actually fall just outside of the top 32 – Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman, Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry and Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.
Here is the full list of players that Kiper has in his top five:
- Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa – 14th overall
- Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M – 26th overall
- Keon Coleman, WR, FSU – 33rd overall
- Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama – 35th overall
- Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas – 36th overall
That list actually indicates pretty strongly that only one NFL team might have reached particularly high in the first round to get a prospect. Though if you followed along, a lot of the players who were projected to go early wound up going early in the end.
Round two of the 2024 NFL Draft begins at 7 pm and will air on ESPN.
