Plus: Texas WBB beats Kentucky
After three consecutive losses in the SEC stretch, Texas Longhorns men’s basketball head coach Rodney Terry had no choice but to respond to concerns about the team’s chances of making this year’s NCAA Tournament. And as it stands, admittedly, things still aren’t bleak.
“I always say that from the start of the season, and as we work our way through the season, every game we play is an NCAA Tournament game in terms of building your resume,” Rodney Terry said, according to Inside Texas. “In this league, every night, you’re playing a quality opponent. That’s the No. 2 team in the country right now, and we’re going to get a team on Saturday that’s always been in the top 10 at some point during this season as well.”
“So, in this league, there’s no nights off in terms of the quality of teams that you’re playing,” Terry later added. “You’re playing an NCAA Tournament team every night that we play. So, you just keep your head down, you keep staying the course, you keep working, and you’ve got to make it happen.”
Texas is currently 15-10 overall, but a worrisome 4-8 in the team’s inaugural season of SEC play.
Next up, Kentucky.
