The Kansas City Chiefs continue to just be a step ahead of other NFL teams and Kirk Herbstreit is loving it.
Taking some time to chat with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt about his favorite picks of the 2024 draft, the longtime college football analyst immediately landed on the Chiefs with their selection of Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
“I think Xavier Worthy is the the obvious one,” Herbstreit told SVP. “He’s gonna bring that speed to Patrick Mahomes. I think it’s a smart pick. And anything that Kansas City does seems to always work out. They’re just always a step ahead of everybody else. They always seem to add a new toy for Patrick Mahomes be able to work with.”
After an impressive career with the Longhorns, Worthy went to this year’s NFL Combine and set the record for fastest 40-yard dash by clocking a 4.21.
Kansas City was in need of receiver help but was able to overcome it and win their second straight Super Bowl last season.
Now Andy Reid gets to insert a dynamic speed threat into his offense a la DeSean Jackson who Reid drafted as the head coach of the Eagles back in 2008. Not to mention the addition of Hollywood Brown earlier this offseason.
