A Sinton product who played for former Texas standout Adrian Alaniz and with current Longhorns starting catcher Rylan Galvan, Stewart was ranked as a top-70 player in the state and the No. 4 first baseman in the 2023 class by Perfect Game.
After a brief stop at Houston Christian, the 5’10, 230-pounder ended up at Northwest Florida State, which ultimately lost to Blinn in the junior college national championship game. Stewart’s bat was key for the Raiders, posting a slash line of .346/.555/.743 with 15 home runs, 62 RBI, and 61 walks. So Stewart not only has big power from the left side, he also makes consistent contact and manages the strike zone with more walks than strikeouts in 2024.
New Texas commit Jaquae Stewart who is transferring from JUCO Northwest Florida. Last season he had an absurd .555 OBP. A huge bat added to this lineup and a replacement for Jared Thomas at first base. pic.twitter.com/yGXxS4VIRq
