Third-year player describes himself as a veteran in the room
Texas Longhorns redshirt sophomore running back Jaydon Blue has situated himself firmly at the top of the team’s depth chart. Most recently, that includes 25 carries for 124 yards for three touchdowns, as well as a receiving touchdown, in Texas’ win over ULM on Saturday.
As Blue put it, per Sports Illustrated, this is only the start for him and future Texas rushers.
“I’m the oldest guy in that room,” Blue reportedly said after Texas’ win. “So, I just try to do my best to lead, not only lead by example but stay with the younger guys and try to pave the way for them and do everything right so they could see the right way to do things.”
Both Blue and teammate CJ Baxter, who is out for the season due to an injury, were listed among this past preseason’s players to keep an eye on for the Doak Walker Award, which is presented to the nation’s top NCAA rusher.
