Cook announced his departure earlier this week
There are still more than a few questions remaining around the so-called “mutual” decision to part ways between the Texas Longhorns football program and up-and-coming sophomore wide receiver Johntay Cook, who announced his departure earlier this week.
Either way, the world has only continued turning since Cook, a former five-star recruit in the 2023 prospect class, and Texas went public with their split. And as we’ve come to respect in this world that continues a’swirling in circles, the Georgia Bulldogs are already sniffing at Cook, according to a recent report from Yahoo Sports.
From Yahoo Sports: “In 2024, Cook recorded eight catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns. The talented sophomore appeared in six games during the 2024 season. Cook has the fifth-most receiving yardage of any player on Texas.”
Multiple sources are also reporting that Cook has been in touch with Ole Miss and Oregon, too.

The next NCAA Transfer Portal period opens on Dec. 9.
Recruiting analysts expect Cook to be among the top transfer prospects this coming offseason.
