The Horns are set for a primetime matchup against the Bulldogs.
A loss by the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs to the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide a little more than a week ago lowered the stakes for the Oct. 19 matchup against the No. 1 Texas Longhorns in Austin, but didn’t push it out of primetime with Monday’s game time and television announcement slotting the high-profile contest at 6:30 p.m. Central on ABC.
The game marks the sixth all-time matchup between the two programs with the Longhorns holding a 4-1 advantage over the Bulldogs, including the 28-21 win by Texas in the 2018 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. The only previous game in Austin came in 1958, a 13-8 win by the Horns as part of a home-and-home series that also featured a 26-7 win by Texas the previous year in Athens. Georgia beat Texas 10-9 in the 1984 Cotton Bowl in addition to a 41-38 win by the Longhorns in the 1949 Orange Bowl.
