Card played for the Longhorns from 2020 to 2022
Purdue starting quarterback Hudson Card announced his plans to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
I’m super thankful for my time at Texas and Purdue and all the relationships I’ve built. I wouldn’t trade my journey for anything and I’m grateful for all of the lessons I’ve learned. I will be pursuing my dream of the NFL and look forward to what’s to come!

Card, a redshirt senior, began his career with the Texas Longhorns under former head coach Tom Herman’s control. As a member of Texas football’s 2020 recruiting class, the former four-star prospect was ranked nationally as a top-four dual-threat quarterback, as well as a top 10 overall player in Texas, according to 247Sports 2020 recruiting rankings.
At Texas, Card saw limited playing and opted to redshirt as a true freshman in 2020. He was later named the starter as a redshirt freshman ahead of the 2021 season, which saw Alabama coach Steve Sarkisian replace Herman at the top of the program’s coaching helm, but Card would eventually lose the starting job to redshirt sophomore Casey Thompson following a disastrous showing versus Arkansas. He would see playing time in eight games that season.
Ohio State transfer and redshirt freshman Quinn Ewers entered the picture the following offseason, which led to Card’s benching for the remainder of his time with the Longhorns.
In November 2022, Card announced his intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He landed at Purdue shortly after, where he started 21 games over the course of the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
