Herman led Texas football from 2017 to 2020
Former Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman lost his job at Florida Atlantic today, according to multiple reports.
Tom Herman fired DC Roc Bellantoni a week ago. Now Herman is out and Bellantoni is back as DC under an interim head coach to finish the season. Don’t see that often. https://t.co/X689bcpXba

Herman was in his second season leading the Owls. He finishes his FAU tenure with a 6-11 record. FAU currently sits at 2-8 this season. Only Charlotte and Tulsa remain on the Owls’ 2024 regular season schedule, according to Yahoo Sports.
From Yahoo Sports: “FAU has lost six straight games, including an overtime defeat to Temple on Saturday. The 18-15 loss dropped FAU to 0-6 in the AAC as the only team without a win in conference play.”
Herman led the Longhorns from 2017 to 2020 before he was relieved of his duties and, later, replaced by current head coach Steve Sarkisian. During his tenure in Austin, Herman recruited fan favorite players like former starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who’s currently a backup for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.
Prior to his time at FAU, Herman was an analyst with the Chicago Bears.
