Well that didn’t last quite as long as we thought it would. Just a few months after leaving Tuscaloosa for Austin, one former Alabama linebacker is entering the transfer portal once again.
According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, linebacker Kendrick Blackshire is transferring from the University of Texas. Blackshire had been with the Longhorns since January after transferring from Alabama.
In three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Blackshire had 25 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 2.0 tackles for loss.
Coming out of high school in 2021, 247Sports rated Blackshire as a four-star prospect and the No. 168 recruit in his class. He was the No. 21 linebacker in the nation and the No. 30 player from the state of Texas.
Texas are coming off one of their best seasons in 15 years, winning the Big 12 Championship in their final year as a member and knocking off Alabama in Tuscaloosa en route to making the College Football Playoff for the first time.
The Longhorns’ magical run came to an end at the hands of the Washington Huskies and now they’re getting ready for life in the SEC.
By the looks of things, Kendrick Blackshire won’t be a part of the new era of either Alabama or Texas football.
