The surprisingly long transfer saga of former four-star linebacker Kendrick Blackshire appears to have finally reached its end.
According to Mike Roach of 247Sports, Blackshire is set to transfer to UTSA. Blackshire played for Alabama over the last three seasons but transferred to Texas in December before entering the transfer portal again in the spring.
“Per multiple sources, former Top247 LB Kendrick Blackshire will transfer to UTSA. The former four-star signed with Alabama out of high school and transferred to Texas in December before entering the portal post-spring,” Roach wrote on X.
Over his three years with the Crimson Tide, Blackshire recorded 25 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
2023 was a solid year for the UTSA Roadrunners, who won their first-ever bowl game with a 35-17 win over Marshall in the Frisco Bowl.
Head coach Jeff Traylor has led the Roadrunners to bowl games in each of his four seasons at the helm, plus back-to-back conference titles when UTSA was a member of Conference USA.
In 2023, their first year as members of the American Athletic Conference, the team went 8-4 in the regular season, good for a third-place finish, and secured their bowl game.
