Now that we’ve all marveled at what an historic achievement Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy pulled off at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, the more important conversation can begin: Where will he go in the 2024 NFL Draft?
Coming into today, Worthy was seen as a solid but not-quite elite wide receiver by many analysts. While many grade him as a top 50 prospect, he’s no Marvin Harrison and many believe that he’s not even the best wide receiver from his own school entering this draft.
But if speed kills, Xavier Worthy is John Wick and judging by some of what we’ve seen on social media in the past few minutes, there’s one team in particular that won’t let him get past them in the first round.
After Worthy officially clocked in at a 4.21-second 40-yard dash, many noticed that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took notice of him. They all the conceded one thing: “He’s a Chief.”
“He’s a chief it’s so obvious I hate this,” one Philadelphia Eagles fan wrote.
“You know he’s a chief then,” another user wrote in response to Patrick Mahomes.
“He’s a chief Mahomes MVP again I’m done,” a third user wrote.
It’s no secret that the Chiefs need a new wide receiver. It was arguably their biggest weakness and several members of their Super Bowl team are already slated to hit free agency.
Granted, the Chiefs might not get a chance to draft Worthy if someone takes him early.
But if he falls, we know that the Chiefs have the willingness to make a trade up for a player they really love.
