Arch Manning may feel better about opting into EA Sports College Football 25 after seeing his player rating.
According to CBS Sports, the Texas quarterback received an 87 overall rating in this year’s highly anticipated video game. That’s despite spending his first season backing up Quinn Ewers, who matches Dillon Gabriel as the third-highest-rated quarterback behind Shedeur Sanders and Carson Beck at a 92.
Fans feel it’s an overly generous number for Manning, who threw five passes in his lone appearance last year.
“Are you kidding me???” a fan asked.
“Ridiculous,” another fan said.
“How??????” a fan wondered.
“Arch Manning being ranked an 87 in NCAA as a backup QB is certainly interesting,” a fan wrote.
“Arch Manning being a 87 in NCAA25 is absurd,” another fan claimed.
Reports from earlier this year said Manning planned to opt out of the game to focus on real football. However, he revealed otherwise Tuesday, declaring he’s “in the game” in an EA Sports video alongside his uncle, Eli Manning.
On3’s Pete Nakos said the 19-year-old made between $50,000 and $60,000 to promote the game. Like every other player who signed off on their likeness, Manning will also receive $600 and a copy of the game.
Maybe that NIL deal included insurance of a high rating. But despite some fan protesting, it’s not too hard to see why the 2023’s top-ranked recruit earned a lofty appraisal despite remaining blocked by Ewers in Texas.
