Ojomo began his career at Texas as a three-star recruit
Former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Moro Ojomo won a Super Bowl last night alongside his Philadelphia Eagles teammates as they romped the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.
Ojomo, a native of Lagos, Nigeria, actually recorded two tackles for loss in the Eagles’ win. As Inside Texas notes, Ojomo was a part of a defensive effort that limited Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to less than 300 yards passing, 49 rushing yards and only 12 first downs by the time the fourth quarter struck zero.
The championship marked the end of Ojomo’s second season in the NFL. He was initially selected by Philadelphia in the seventh round of 2023 NFL Draft — the 249th overall pick.
He began his career as a three-star recruit at just the age of 16 at Texas in 2019. After redshirting during his true freshman season, Ojomo would go on to become a three-year starter and earn second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2022.
Moro Ojomo didn’t even try out for the football team in his freshman year of high school.
But after the coach convinced him, he decided to give football a shot.
“Freshman team backup,” Ojomo said.
“Freshman B-team backup. The fourth guy in my position.”
