Quinn Ewers is the only thing that stands in the way of Arch Manning being Texas’ QB1, but the former five-star prospect says he’s happy to have a player like Quinn on the team that can show him the ropes.
“It’s nice having a guy like Quinn to look up to,” the sophomore quarterback recently said at the Manning Passing Academy. “He was a highly-rated recruit and he’s such a good guy, so I’ve learned so much from him. We’ve become really good friends. I’m just really glad that I’m in such a good situation.”
Ewers returned for another season in Austin after helping guide the Longhorns to their first ever College Football Playoff appearance under Steve Sarkisian.
Manning only appeared in two games for UT last year but turned a ton of heads with his performance in the Orange-White spring game.
In seemingly any other context, fans would be dying to get Manning on the field. But because Ewers has continuously improved since his arrival with the ‘Horns, folks in Texas aren’t too mad to have one of the nation’s top QBs back in uniform.
Manning wanted to go somewhere where he could develop, and if things continue to trend in the right direction he’ll hit the ground running once the job is his.
