Five-star 2025 wide receiver Kaliq Lockett is one of the top recruits in the class and has been courted by many of the biggest college football programs in the country. But after narrowing his list to Alabama, LSU and Texas, he’s made his decision.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, Lockett informed him that he is committing to Texas and joining Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns.
“Came from nothing and we still climbing. Hookem,” Lockett said in a message to Fawcett, adding the “horns up” emoji at the end.

Lockett is a bonafide speedster who has competed in track and field at a high level for at Sachse High School in Texas. On the football field, he averaged over 20 yards per reception over the past three seasons and had 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns in the year 2023 alone.
247Sports rates Lockett as the No. 12 overall prospect in the Class of 2025. He is the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 5 prospect from the state of Texas.
Longhorns fans on X are thrilled that they got Lockett while other fanbases are kicking themselves that they couldn’t land him:
“THE BEST COME TO TEXAS,” one Longhorns star declared.
“Let Sark cook!!” wrote another.
“Bama in shambles as usual,” another fan joked.
“Good get for the Longhorns, gonna be a great NFL player soon,” a third said.
Will Lockett be an impact player for the Longhorns as a freshman? Or will it take time for him to develop?
