One month from Selection Sunday, the Committee has the Horned Frogs ranked as a 3-seed
With Selection Sunday exactly one month away, the NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Committee revealed its initial Top 16 rankings. These in-season bracket previews began ten years ago to provide a preview of the Committee’s thought process and which metrics may prove most important ahead of the final reveal, offering a glimpse at how the top teams stack up with roughly a handful of games remaining in the regular season.

TCU has been included in this ranking for the first time since the Top 16 reveals began in 2015, being placed at #9 overall by the Committee, representing the top. If the Frogs were to maintain this spot in the bracket, it would represent the highest seed in program history. Ranked 11th in the AP Poll, TCU’s resume includes wins over two of the other Top 16 squads, defeating #8 NC State in Schollmaier Arena and #4 Notre Dame in the Cayman Islands Classic. With a 23-3 overall record (11-2 Big 12), two of TCU’s losses came vs. other teams in this Top 16, falling to #2 South Carolina and #12 Kansas State.

The Committee also assigned regions for this Top 16, placing TCU as the three-seed in the Birmingham Regional with one-seed South Carolina, two-seed NC State, and 4-seed Oklahoma.
Now officially knowing the teams TCU must leap to earn a top-2 seed, as well as the teams the Frogs must fend off for its spot as a 3-seed, it sets up a thrilling sprint over the season’s final month. The Horned Frogs look to continue to further boost its NCAA Tournament resume on the road today vs. the Arizona Wildcats at 3:00 PM in Tucson, broadcast on ESPN+. The next bracket update will come Thursday February 27 at 5:30 PM on ESPN2 with the final bracket to be announced on Sunday March 16 at 7:00 PM on ESPN.
