TCU shot 59% from beyond the arc to improve to 6-0, climbing to No. 17 in the AP Poll
Prior to Mark Campbell’s arrival in Fort Worth, TCU Women’s Basketball had only started a season with six straight wins once in program history; after the win Sunday to improve to 6-0, the Horned Frogs have now achieved the feat in back-to-back seasons. TCU continued its non-conference unbeaten streak on Sunday afternoon, eventually running away from the Idaho State Bengals for a 40-point win in Schollmaier Arena. TCU’s trio of star scorers took over the game, led by Hailey Van Lith’s career-high 27 points, Madison Conner added 17 thanks to five made three-pointers, while Sedona Prince reached the 1,000 career points milestone with a 19 point effort, combining to shoot 64% from the field.
As a team, the Horned Frogs all shot the lights out, making 59.1% of its three point attempts, the top mark since going 13-20 from long range vs. Texas Tech in January 2024. TCU also only missed four of 15 free throw attempts while being able to score in bunches, creating 26 points off turnovers with 19 coming on the fast break. The Horned Frogs were able to dominate defensively, with eight steals and eight blocked shots as a team despite only getting two from the Big 12 leader Prince.

The Bengals fought tough through the first half, especially in the first quarter, shooting 58% from the field and finding answers to what the Frogs were throwing at them. Idaho State had cut the lead to eight, but Madison Conner drained a three at the buzzer to close out the first quarter to put TCU up by 11 and Frogs held a comfortable margin the rest of the way. TCU was able to keep Idaho State at arm’s length during the second quarter before coming out in the second half and delivering haymaker after haymaker to complete the rout of the Bengals. ISU fell victim to multiple lengthy scoring droughts as the swarming Frogs defense kept them off the board while the offense continued to pour it on at the other end. TCU outscored the Bengals 44-17 in the second half, as ISU committed more personal fouls (9) and turnovers (10) over the final 20 minutes than made baskets (6).

The Horned Frogs continue to lead the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.25), with 18 assists on the 31 made shots with just nine turnovers, the third time this season TCU has committed fewer than 10 giveaways. Conner, Van Lith, and Prince each had four dimes with Donovyn Hunter adding three more. With the win, TCU has climbed to No. 17 in the AP Poll, one of four Big 12 squads ranked in the Top 20.
That offensive efficiency will be key as TCU looks ahead to its biggest challenge yet, the neutral site showdown with No. 3 Notre Dame, which leads the nation in defensive efficiency as Fighting Irish freshman forward Kate Koval leads the nation in blocked shots. As part of the Cayman Islands Classic, that game will take place Friday November 29th at 4:00 PM, to be broadcast on FloCollege, but with radio broadcast locally via KTCU 88.7 FM. The Horned Frogs will be back in action from Grand Cayman the following evening to play South Florida.
