Horned Frogs improve to 9-0 as elite defense shuts down the Owls
In the first ever game as a Top Ten team, No. 9 TCU Women’s Basketball lived up to the lofty ranking, storming past the Florida Atlantic Owls 78-42 on Wednesday night in Schollmaier Arena. Avoiding the lookahead letdown with defending champion No. 3 South Carolina up next on Sunday, the Horned Frogs improved to 9-0 on the season. Hailey Van Lith led all scorers with 16 points while Sedona Prince added 5 blocks to her nation-leading total, logging her 100th block as a Horned Frog.

The Horned Frogs opened the game on a 14-0 run, but were held scoreless over the final four minutes of the first quarter as the Owls fought back to cut the lead to six at the first break. It may have led to a nervy moment in Schollmaier Arena, but Madison Conner erased any butterflies, taking over to open the open the 2nd quarter, drilling the three-pointer and dishing a pair of assists as TCU scored the first seven points of the period. TCU would go on to outscore FAU 25-6 in the quarter, snuffing out the Owls’ offense and the rout was on.

On a night where the starters earned a relatively light workload with no player on the court for more than 29 minutes, Knisha Godfrey led TCU’s bench efforts with her best game of the season, scoring 7 points with 3 assists and a pair of rebounds. The Horned Frogs’ bench runs deep with Agnes Emma-Nnopu and Aaliyah Roberson available as super-subs, combining for 12 points and 8 rebounds.
