TCU hits century mark for second time this season in 103-64 win over the Bulldogs
12th-ranked TCU Women’s Basketball was without star center Sedona Prince due to illness on Tuesday night but the Horned Frogs showed no signs of slowing in a 103-64 demolition of Samford. With Prince sidelined, Deasia Merrill was outstanding in her first start of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Merrill was one of five Horned Frogs to score in double digits as TCU crossed the century mark for the second time this season. Madison Conner dropped a 30-piece for the second time on the year, scoring 33 points shooting 48% from the field with eight three-pointers.

The Bulldogs were taking advantage of TCU being without Prince’s rim protection, able to get good looks and score at a high rate in the first period, shooting 44% from the field to get a healthy 18 1Q points. However the TCU team-play and shot-making was operating at an elite level on Tuesday night, with 11 made shots coming from 10 assists in the opening frame to push a nine-point Horned Frog advantage, despite the strong start from Samford. For the game, TCU would distribute 26 total assists to just six turnovers, led by Hailey Van Lith’s eight dimes with zero turnovers in 34 minutes on the court. Van Lith ranks 10th nationally in assists per game while the Horned Frogs rank third overall in assist-to-turnover ratio.

She dominated the third quarter, scoring, assisting, or rebounding on each of the second half’s first ten possessions, ultimately recording seven rebounds during the period.

Along with Deasia Merrill’s efforts in the front court with Prince sidelined, Aaliyah Roberson was a key contributor off the bench at forward. She dropped a pair of killer triples as part of her ten points, adding seven rebounds in 23 impactful minutes on the court. Donovyn Hunter also excelled coming off the bench on Tuesday, shooting 75% from the field to score a career-high 14 points.
TCU will now prepare for its first true road game of the season, traveling to Orlando to face the UCF Knights (7-3) on Saturday December 21 at 1:00 PM, broadcast on ESPN+.
