Several Horned Frogs have been gaining national recognition and preseason accolades
Namdi Obiazor – LB (Sr.)

Namdi Obiazor started all 12 games for the Frogs during the 2023 season. He was awarded Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and Honorable Mention Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after leading the defense in tackles, with 84. Obiazor will be an important piece in the new Avalos defense for the Horned Frogs this season.
Johnny Hodges – LB (Jr.)
- Comeback Player of the Year Watchlist.
- Lott Impact Trophy Watchlist.
Despite being injured for the majority of the 2023 season Johnny Hodges finished 10th in tackles for the Frogs. The Former Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year and Second-Team All-Big 12 Linebacker looks to make a major comeback and lead the defense in 2024.
Drake Dabney – TE (Sr.)
- John Mackey Award Watchlist.
The Baylor transfer was named Honorable-Mention All-Big 12 in 2023, where he set a single-season record for receiving yards for a Baylor tight end. This season, Dabney looks to fill the shoes of Jared Wiley, who was selected in the 4th round of this year’s NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Boise State transfer totaled over 1,000 yards in his 2 seasons as a Bronco. McAlister was a former 3-star recruit out of Azle, Texas. He has looked good during fall camp and will hopefully continue his success here in Fort Worth, Texas for the Horned Frogs.
Savion Williams – WR (Sr.)
- Feldman’s Freaklist
Savion Williams was named to Feldman’s Freaklist for the second consecutive year. The Senior Wide Receiver led the TCU offense in receiving yards with 573. Williams has shown flashes of greatness and expects to lead the wide receiver group again in the 2024 season.
Major Everhart – WR (Soph.)
- Paul Hornung Award Watchlist
Everhart was placed on the Paul Hornung Award Watchlist for his versatility as a wide receiver and kick returner. During the 2023 season, as a redshirt freshman, Everhart averaged 22.3 yards per kick return and had an 86-yard return for a touchdown against Colorado in the 2023 season opener. The Sophomore brings speed and versatility to both the TCU offense and special teams unit.
NaNa Osafo-Mensah – DL (Sr.)
- Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List
Osafo-Mensah was placed on the Allstate Wuerffel trophy watch list for his community service efforts. The Fort Worth Native played the last 4 seasons for Notre Dame. During his time with the Fighting Irish, he totaled 9.0 sacks. Coach Dykes praised Osafo-Mensah’s leadership during Fall camp.
Brent Matiscik – SN (Sr.)
- Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List.
Matiscik, a redshirt Senior, serves as TCU’s long snapper. He has played in 42 total games with the Horned Frogs. He provides consistency and continuity to the TCU special teams unit.

17 Horned Frogs were named to the Watchlist for the East-West Shrine Bowl. January 25th will be the 100th edition of the College Football All-Star Game.
