The No. 20 ranked TCU volleyball team began its NCAA Tournament run in dominant fashion on Thursday evening, when the Horned Frogs left no doubt in their three-set sweep against Big West Conference champion Hawaii in the first round. It’s the third consecutive season that TCU (22-7, 13-5 Big 12) has won an NCAA Tournament match. The Horned Frogs will advance to face Oregon in a second-round battle of ranked teams on Friday night.

TCU turned in a .297 hitting percentage and posted 10 blocks during its first-round win over the Warriors on Thursday. Melanie Parra led the attack on offense, finishing with 24 kills and hitting .302 during the match. Jalyn Gibson collected nine kills and five digs, while Becca Kelley stepped up with eight kills while hitting .467 for the match. Cecily Bramschreiber and Alice Volpe combined for 24 digs to anchor the back-row defense for the Horned Frogs.

TCU hit .368 during the opening set of the 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 victory on Thursday. Lily Nicholson and Stephanie Young paced the offense for the Horned Frogs, combining for 45 assists with Nicholson totaling 20 and Young dishing out 17. Alexis Roberson and Sarah Sylvester teamed up for eight total blocks to lead the front-row defense. The two middles also combined for eight kills, with Sylvester hitting .667 and Roberson hitting .500.
