The Horned Frogs fall to 17-7 and 9-5 in Big 12 play.
It was a tough road trip to the Sunflower State for the No. 18 ranked TCU volleyball team this past week. The Horned Frogs dropped a pair of Big 12 Conference matches, falling in four sets against No. 12 Kansas on Wednesday before conceding a three-set sweep against Kansas State on Friday. It’s the first time TCU (17-7, 9-5 Big 12) has lost consecutive matches since Aug. 31 and Sept. 6, when the Horned Frogs fell to No. 2 Nebraska and No. 6 Wisconsin. TCU will return home and face the Houston Cougars on Wednesday evening.

Friday: Kansas State 3, TCU 0
The Horned Frogs hung tough over all three sets, but struggles on offense continued, as TCU turned in a .149 hitting percentage during its 23-25, 25-27, 23-25 loss to the Wildcats. Kansas State managed to shut down outside hitters Melanie Parra and Jalyn Gibson, who combined for 28 kills on the TCU side. Parra hit .173 and Gibson hit just .114 in the match. Lily Nicholson turned in a double-double with 33 assists and 14 digs, while freshman libero Alice Volpe finished with 15 digs. Freshman outside hitter Evan Hendrix nearly notched a double-double of her own, recording 10 digs along with nine kills on the offensive end.

Alexis Roberson was a bright spot on offense, earning four kills and a .400 hitting percentage from the middle hitter position. Sarah Sylvester totaled six block assists to lead the TCU defense up front. The Horned Frogs have fallen into a tie for fifth place in the Big 12, but the team’s final four matches are against programs with losing records in the league. TCU will host Texas Tech this coming Friday before ending the regular season with road matches against West Virginia and Cincinnati next week.
