TCU Football reveals new uniforms & helmets ahead of 2024 season

It’s the first full redesign for the Horned Frogs in five years

TCU Football revealed a new set of uniforms and helmets on Monday morning. While The Horned Frogs have added design elements and bespoke alternate uniforms over the last five years, today’s announcement is the first full refresh since 2019.

TCU Athletics teased the announcement on Sunday night with a hype video featuring iconic figures and moments from Horned Frog history, with the message that there would be “Big NEWs at 8:17 AM.” This video’s use of nostalgia and the reference to Fort Worth’s 817 area code let the rumors begin that there could be an alternate jersey embracing the program’s Funkytown home or perhaps a use of the retro Flying T logos that the university re-licensed in 2022.

As has been the case with several recent Nike uniform rebrands, including the Baylor reveal last month, TCU has removed many of the unique design elements and embraced a minimalist design, with solid color pants and jerseys, with only a TCU logo on the front collar and a small “Carter Boys” patch on the back collar.

The announcement also revealed a new set of chrome helmet offerings including purple frogskin pattern with the silver horned frog with white arched TCU and mirror silver chrome with the purple arched TCU lettering logo.

While a departure from the look the Horned Frogs showed on the field most recently, with the removal of the Black Panther-style collar spikes, these new uniforms are reminiscent of the 2017 styling.

Ultimately how these jerseys will be remembered will be by the players wearing them and the on-field results they produce. The first live action look at the new look will be Friday August 30th at 9:30 PM CT on ESPN when the Horned Frogs travel to California to take on the Stanford Cardinal to open the 2024 season.
