The Horned Frogs end their season in the NCAA Tournament after not qualifying last season.
A successful season came to a close for the No. 7 ranked TCU soccer team, which fell 1-0 against No. 22 Penn State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday evening. The Horned Frogs (17-4-2, 9-0-2) won the Big 12 regular season championship and took second in the conference tournament to qualify for the postseason tournament. TCU held a significant advantage on offense, outshooting the Nittany Lions 15-3 and totaling four shots on goal to just one for the Penn State side. But the Horned Frogs, who outshot Stephen F. Austin 20-2 in their first-round win last week, were unable to convert their quality chances.

TCU totaled six corner kicks and Penn State finished the match without a single corner kick attempted. The Nittany Lions scored the lone goal during the 47th minute and avoided allowing the equalizer during the 58th minute, when TCU’s Caroline Kelly got loose on a breakaway before her shot on goal was blocked by a Penn State defender. Bella Diorio and Cameron Patton each finished with three shots, while Oli Pena and Caroline Kelly each totaled two shots. The Horned Frogs advanced to the second round after defeating Stephen F. Austin 1-0 at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium in Fort Worth last week.
