The TCU women’s soccer team built on a strong performance against No. 20 Alabama, hitting the road and shutting out the Charlotte 49ers for a 3-0 win on Sunday evening. The Horned Frogs (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) were rewarded for their back-to-back shutouts with the No. 13 ranking in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll, which was released today. Seven Castain, Lauren Memoly and AJ Hennessey each scored goals against Charlotte on Sunday.

TCU took an early lead after forward Seven Castain capitalized on assists from defender Evie Baker and midfielder Oli Pena to score the team’s first goal of the match during the 12th minute of regulation time. The Horned Frogs extended their lead later in the first half, with forward Lauren Memoly sending an unassisted strike into the back of the Charlotte net during the 34th minute. Entering the second half with a 2-0 advantage, TCU successfully iced its nonconference win after forward A.J. Hennessey cleaned up a missed penalty kick for her first goal of the season during the 82nd minute.

TCU goalkeeper Olivia Geller recorded two saves, one during each half, to secure the team’s second consecutive shutout victory. The Horned Frogs dominated the ball throughout the match, earning seven corner kicks while outshooting the 49ers 22-5. Seven Castain led the TCU offense with five shots, while forward Caroline Kelly added four shots in the win. TCU held a 6-2 advantage over the 49ers in shots on goal. TCU will attempt to extend its streak of victories to three when the Horned Frogs face Notre Dame on the road Sunday. The Fighting Irish are 1-1 overall after a 6-0 win against Samford and a 2-1 loss to Michigan State.
