The true freshman from Aledo will reportedly depart after only one season in Fort Worth.
TCU’s quarterback room could be suffering a significant loss, as multiple reports indicate that true freshman and former four-star recruit Hauss Hejny will be entering the transfer portal after only one season with the Horned Frogs. A back-to-back state champion with Aledo, Hejny appeared in four games this season, rushing for 65 yards on 15 carries. While Hejny earned limited experience, the freshman started the season as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart behind starter Josh Hoover and former Vanderbilt transfer Ken Seals.

Steven Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram indicated on X that Hejny will not play for the Horned Frogs in the upcoming New Mexico Bowl against Louisiana. Hejny was the second-best recruit in the 2024 class and continues a trend of four-star recruits who have left the program in recent seasons. TCU has lost four of its top recruits from 2023 including Cordale Russell, Randon Fontenette, Cam Cook and Javeon Wilcox. The Horned Frogs briefly lost Jamel Johnson, who entered the portal earlier this month before reportedly opting to return. Hejny is the first player from the 2024 class who will leave the program.

Both Hoover and Seals are eligible to return for the 2025 season. TCU has also signed 2025 four-star quarterback and state champion Adam Schobel, who was recently named the Offensive Most Valuable Player during Columbus’ recent state title victory. The Horned Frogs had a commitment from 2025 four-star quarterback Ty Hawkins before he flipped his commitment to SMU in July and signed with the Mustangs earlier this month.
