The Horned Frogs suffer a major blow to their backcourt.
A tough start to the 2024-25 season for TCU men’s basketball took another disastrous turn on Friday, when multiple reports broke that starting point guard Frankie Collins will miss the remainder of the season due to a fractured foot suffered last weekend. The former Arizona State standout transferred in and was off to a strong start for the Horned Frogs, posting averages of 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. It’s a brutal loss for TCU, who has already lost four nonconference games and currently stands at 5-4 overall.

The injury reportedly occurred over the weekend, when TCU suffered an 83-74 loss against Vanderbilt. Collins played 35 minutes and went 2-for-9 from the field with six points and seven assists. With Collins out for the season, TCU will need veteran guards like Noah Reynolds and Vasean Allette to step up in his place. Reynolds recently missed the team’s win over Xavier, but returned to help the Horned Frogs take on the Commodores. Collins started his career at Michigan, spending one season with the Wolverines before playing two seasons at Arizona State. It’s unclear whether or not Collins will be able to return next year.
