Multiple outlets are reporting that Donati will take on the role of athletic director for the Gamecocks.
Multiple reports released on Wednesday indicate that TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati is expected to become the new athletic director at South Carolina. FootballScoop’s John Brice was first to report the move, which was then corroborated by multiple reporters including Action Network’s Brett McMurphy and ESPN Senior Writer Pete Thamel. Donati has worked at TCU since 2011 and has served as the university’s athletic director since 2017.

Among Donati’s moves as athletic director are the hiring and extension of head football coach Sonny Dykes as well as the extension of head men’s basketball coach Jamie Dixon. Under Donati’s leadership, TCU also hired Kirk Saarloos to lead the baseball program, Mark Campbell to lead the women’s basketball program and Jason Williams to lead the women’s volleyball program. Williams was most recently awarded a contract extension in May 2024.
Prior to become TCU’s athletic director, Donati served as the deputy athletic director under Chris Del Conte, who left the university to work for Texas in 2017. Since his arrival at TCU in 2011, Donati has played a major role in enhancing the TCU student-athlete experience through donor-supported facility upgrades totaling nearly $500 million. The most recent project is the $50 million Athletics Human Performance Center Renovation and Expansion projects. Announced in December 2022, the projects began construction in January 2024 with a July 2025 completion date.
Donati’s departure is the second major departure announced within the last week. On Tuesday, it was reported that TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini will step down and become chancellor emeritus in June 2025. TCU President Daniel Pullin will succeed him.
