Despite leading TCU on an historic run to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game and putting up some amazing performances in the process, Max Duggan apparently failed to impress NFL teams by Draft Day.
Duggan went undrafted through the first six rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft and didn’t stop falling until the Los Angeles Chargers took him with the 239th overall pick in the seventh round. His fall still stopped earlier than Brock Purdy’s did last year, but it was still a wild sight to behold.
The 2022 season saw Duggan emerge as one of the best players in college football. He threw for 3,698 yards and 32 touchdowns while adding nine more touchdowns on the ground.
For his efforts, Duggan finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting behind USC’s Caleb Williams.
Now that Duggan’s slide has finally stopped, NFL fans are rejoicing. Though some are joking that he’ll be competing with Chargers star QB Justin Herbert – which probably won’t happen:

If there’s one thing that the 2022 NFL season taught us it’s that quarterbacks of any age and level of experience can be thrust into a prominent role at the drop of a hat.
Max Duggan may not be in the Chargers’ plans for the 2023 season, but that doesn’t mean he won’t wind up having a role in it at some point.
