Fresh off winning the 2024 National Championship at TCU and ITA All-American seasons, Jake Fearnley and Jack Pinnington Jones will compete together again on the doubles as main draw wild cards. They will take on the Brazilian pair of Rafael Matos & Marcelo Melo in the First Round, winners of the Stuttgart BOSS OPEN together earlier this month, another grass-surface tournament. TCU’s Reese Stalder is on doubles standby, on the alternate list just as he was in 2023 Wimbledon, reaching the Third Round.
Fearnley recently won the singles tournament Rothesay Open Nottingham and was awarded a wild card entry into the Gentlemen’s Singles Main Draw and will get a First Round match up with Alejandro Moro Canas of Spain, who ranks as singles World No. 189. Should Fearnley advance, he would likely face seven-time Wimbledon Champion Novak Djokovic in Round Two.
Joining Fearnley in the Gentleman’s Singles Main Draw is fellow Brit, No. 44 Cameron Norrie. Making his seventh Wimbledon start, and 27th overall Grand Slam appearance, Norrie had a career-best finish in the Wimbledon Semifinals in 2022. Hi First Round opponent will be No. 67 Facundo Diaz Acosta of Argentina. In 2024 Grand Slams, Norrie reached the Fourth Round of the Australian Open but failed to escape the First Round of Roland Garros.
In the 2024 Men’s Singles Main Draw, 19 players competed at the collegiate level, with TCU being one of just four programs with multiple former athletes to reach the field, joining South Carolina, UCLA, and Illinois.
