Former TCU guard Jameer Nelson Jr. has signed with the San Antonio Spurs and will compete in the upcoming California Classic Summer League and the NBA Summer League later this month. Nelson Jr. started his career at Delaware, where he played four seasons before transferring to TCU and finishing his career. Nelson Jr. was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after averaging 11.2 points, 3.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game during the 2023-24 season. Nelson Jr. signed with San Antonio as an undrafted free agent.

Nelson Jr. is the son of former St. Joe’s standout and longtime NBA guard Jameer Nelson Sr., who played in 878 games from 2004-18 and held career averages of 11.3 points and 5.1 assists per game. Nelson Sr. spent a decade with the Orlando Magic and three years with the Denver Nuggets. The California Classic Summer League begins on July 6 and the NBA Summer League begins on July 13. Nelson Jr. is the first TCU player from the 2023-24 roster to sign with an NBA team, as All-Big 12 honoree Emanuel Miller has not been signed.
