Noah Reynolds led the Frogs with an efficient 17 point outing.
TCU Men’s Basketball remains undefeated after a close victory over Texas State on Tuesday in Fort Worth by a final score of 76-71. The Frogs moved to 3-0 on the season thanks to a solid shooting night from the field. TCU shot over 53% from the field and over 35% from three, both significant improvements from a dismal shooting night in the game against Florida Golf Coast. TCU outrebounded Texas State by a margin of 34-27 and forced more turnovers than Texas State did. Defensively, the Frogs did a good job limiting the Bobcats from three as Texas State shot under 30% from deep as a team. The game was much closer than it should have been because the Frogs could not hit their free throws. TCU did a great job of getting to the line for 32 free throw attempts but only made 15 for an abysmal percentage of 46.9% from the stripe.

The starters carried the scoring load for the Frogs in this game as they were responsible for 62 of the 76 points. Noah Reynolds had a great game for TCU with 17 points to lead the team on 6-7 shooting from the field. Reynolds was effective even when he wasn’t scoring with five assists, one steal, and one rebound. Frankie Collins continues to be an excellent facilitator as he racked up 13 points and six assists with just one turnover. Collins’s ability to push the pace in transition and beat defenders off the dribble to get to the basket is key to the TCU offense. Trazarien White played his best game as Horned Frog with 16 points on 70% shooting. White knocked down two of three attempts from three in this game and his three-point shooting should provide some much-needed spacing for the Frogs. Ernest Udeh collected double-digit rebounds for the second time this season and played well on defense against the Bobcats. Vasean Allette provided a spark off the bench with five points, one assist, and three steals.

The Frogs trailed at half-time 37-35 but played well offensively out of the break including a 9-0 run to retake the lead with 18 minutes left in the game. TCU did not trail after that point, controlling the pace of the second half. The Frogs will travel to Ann Arbor for the next game against Michigan this Friday at 5:00 pm. The Wolverines are 1-1 this season after a loss to Wake Forest this past Sunday.
