The Horned Frogs score their first significant recruit for their 2025 class.
TCU men’s basketball picked up a major commitment on Wednesday evening, when Duncanville four-star shooting guard Kayden “Bugg” Edwards announced his pledge to the Horned Frogs to become TCU’s first recruit of the 2025 class. Edwards, who chose TCU over Colorado, ranks as an ESPN 100 and is currently rated as the No. 61 overall prospect in the nation according to the 247Sports composite system. Edwards is a 6-foot-2 shooting guard who held offers from USC, LSU, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Auburn, Texas and more.

The commitment from Edwards continues a strong recruiting trend for the Horned Frogs, who signed two four-star players (Micah Robinson and David Punch) as well as two three-star players (Malick Diallo and Ashton Simmons) in the 2024 recruiting cycle. TCU also added six players through the transfer portal including Arizona State’s Frankie Collins, Green Bay’s Noah Reynolds, Wyoming’s Brendan Wenzel, UNC-Wilmington’s Trazarien White, Kansas State’s R.J. Jones and Old Dominion’s Vasean Allette. Edwards is the third highest-rated high school player to choose TCU, sitting behind only Blake Adams and P.J. Fuller.
