The pair of road wins now have the Horned Frogs as a consensus two-seed, but West Virginia sits poised to spoil the party in Sunday’s massive showdown in Schollmaier. Results around the Big 12 have TCU currently atop the league standings, tied with a Baylor team it beat last month, setting up a high-stakes season finale in Waco that could be for the conference crown. Impact Game of the Week:
#36 Indiana Hoosiers def. #19 Ohio State – Indiana picks up a major resume boost with the 10 point victory over the Buckeyes, its third Q1 win of the season. While still teetering on the Bubble, the Hoosiers have climbed into near-lock territory and could secure a top-8 seed with a win Sunday over #20 Michigan State. OSU meanwhile was coming off one of its best wins of the season, overcoming a late collapse in regulation to defeat #29 Iowa in overtime, but could not keep the good vibes rolling in Bloomington. The Buckeyes were ranked 14th in the initial bracket reveal last week and now may be at risk of falling out of the top-16. With what should be an easy bounce-back game hosting #133 Purdue on Sunday, the Buckeyes get their own battle with the Spartans next week that will have major seeding implications.
Climbing:
#37 Louisville Cardinals (↑5) – The Cards are on an absolute heater in February, winning five straight, all over NET Top 50 teams, including two straight on the road, taking down #26 Florida State and #8 Duke. UL hasn’t just played itself off the Bubble, but into a position to further climb the seed rankings and the ACC standings, with games remaining against the league’s top two teams, starting by hosting #14 North Carolina in the Yum Center on Sunday.
Falling:
#27 Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (↓2) – The NET hates a double-digit home loss and the Jackets fell victim to a surging NC State on Thursday, losing to the Wolf Pack by 15 points in Atlanta.
