While the Frogs are off this week, it’s one of the most anticipated weeks of the season. We predict the top games of the week
Big 12
Utah Utes at Arizona State Sun Devils – Fri. Oct. 11, 9:30 PM, ESPN
- Anthony: No way the Utes drop games to both AZ teams right? Utes win.
- Austin: Yikes, the loss to Arizona at home is a downer for the Utes CFP hopes. While Isaac Wilson has held up, Cam Rising’s return is important for Utah going forward. I’m sticking with the Utes to narrowly defeat the Sun Devils.
- Drew: The Arizona loss does not look good for the Utes but coming off of a bye I have them taking down the Sun Devils on the road.
- Russ: Utah wins over the Sun Devils here.
- Wyatt: Utah wins it on the road.
- CFB 25: The Utes survive 25-20, powered by Micah Bernard’s 120 yards & a TD.
Cincinnati Bearcats at UCF Knights – Sat. Oct. 12, 2:30 PM, ESPN2
- Anthony: A sneaky awesome game that should be close. Hopefully everyone in Orlando is safe and this game can still be played following Hurricane Milton. I’ll go with a bounce back for the Knights.
- Austin: The Knights fend off the Bearcats amid poor weather conditions. UCF’s ground game is versatile enough to excel no matter what.
- Drew: The Knights have struggled mightily the past two games after a hot start but I still think they find a win against a Bearcat defense that has struggled at times this season.
- Russ: UCF’s rushing attack propels the Knights to a win.
- Wyatt: I think the Knights bounce back after their 2 game skid, and defeat the Bearkats at home.
- CFB 25: Bearcats romp in Orlando 28-7 as the Knights are unable to stop anything on the ground
Arizona Wildcats at BYU Cougars – Sat. Oct. 12, 3:00 PM, FOX
- Anthony: That BYU defense might torture Fifita, but Wildcats pick up another road win in the state of Utah
- Austin: BYU wins a low-scoring battle against the Wildcats.
- Drew: I can’t pick against BYU in Provo especially against an Arizona team that has not been consistent in 2024.
- Russ: BYU keeps rolling with a win over the Wildcats.
- Wyatt: BYU takes care of business at home.
- CFB 25: Wildcats win a wild one with a Jacory Croskey-Merritt rushing TD in overtime to take it 26-23
Iowa State Cyclones at West Virginia Mountaineers – Sat. Oct. 12, 7:00 PM, FOX
- Anthony: Another B12 banger that should be a tight contest. ISU escapes Morgantown with its dream season still in tact.
- Austin: This game is a complete toss-up. The Cyclones are currently the Big 12’s CFP favorite, but the Mountaineers have looked good as of late. I’m rolling with West Virginia in Morgantown.
- Drew: This game should be a very fun one between two teams playing solid football. I think Morgantown will be electric but I’ll take the Cyclones here.
- Russ: Cyclones emerge from Morgantown with a narrow victory.
- Wyatt: I think West Virginia gets the upset and beats the Cyclones.
- CFB 25: WVU kicks a FG in the final minutes and its defense slams the door shut with an interception on the final drive, giving the ‘Eers the 30-27 win.
Kansas State Wildcats at Colorado Buffaloes – Sat. Oct. 12, 9:15 PM, ESPN
- Anthony: Avery Johnson and the ‘Cats handle business in Boulder
- Austin: The Buffaloes defeat the Wildcats and the hype train goes full steam ahead.
- Drew: Colorado slowing down the UCF rushing attack was impressive and I think their offense finds some success against the K-State defense. I’ll take Colorado here.
- Russ: Kansas State wins a high-scoring battle against Coach Prime and the Buffaloes.
- Wyatt: Kansas State beats Deion and the Buffs. The Colorado hype train dies down a little.
- CFB 25: As CU keeps winning in real life, the Buffs continue to be a dominant video game squad. taking a 35-27 win.
Top National Games
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at James Madison Dukes – Thurs. Oct. 10, 6:30 PM, ESPN2
- Anthony: Winner of this one becomes the Sun Belt favorite. Despite the loss at ULM, this JMU offense is just way too much for Coastal to handle.
- Austin: James Madison comes out hot and knocks off Coastal Carolina following their ugly loss this past weekend.
- Drew: I don’t see Coastal Carolina being able to slow down the JMU offense. Give me the Dukes.
- Russ: James Madison gets back on track with a win here.
- Wyatt: James Madison wins it a home.
- CFB 25: A defensive slugfest as an Ayo Adeyi 23 yard TD run is the difference for JMU to take the 13-6 win.
Washington Huskies at Iowa Hawkeyes – Sat. Oct. 12, 11:00 AM, FOX
- Anthony: Even after knocking off the defending champs, I still can’t get on board with the Huskies this season. Iowa wins.
- Austin: I’m siding with the Huskies here. Washington is a completely different team from a season ago, however, the roster is still very talented on both sides of the ball.
- Drew: I’m taking the Hawkeyes here because I think they will be able to shut down the Washington offense at home.
- Russ: Washington wins over the Hawkeyes and their anemic offense.
- Wyatt: I think the Huskies win in Iowa.
- CFB 25: UW led the whole way and didn’t allow any points after the first quarter to earn the 13-10 victory.
Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners – Sat. Oct. 12, 2:30 PM, ABC
- Anthony: Although Red River often delivers the drama, this one is over by halftime. Texas takes this regardless, but with Quinn Ewers’ return, it’s a blowout.
- Austin: Texas. The Longhorns are the most complete team in College Football.
- Drew: I’ll take the Longhorns here. Oklahoma just has too many injuries to wide receivers to keep up with this Texas offense.
- Russ: Texas puts up big numbers in a victory over the Sooners.
- Wyatt: Texas will cover.
- CFB 25: The Longhorns defense gets a sack on the final play and escape with the 30-22 win.
Penn State Nittany Lions at USC Trojans – Sat. Oct. 12, 2:30 PM, CBS
- Anthony: Something feels weird about this one. I think James Franklin’s squad gets it done on the road, but it’ll be a tough battle.
- Austin: The Nittany Lions put away the reeling Trojans in a close one.
- Drew: I think USC picks up a much needed win to keep the season on track and quiet some of the questions around the program.
- Russ: USC wins a close battle at home for the upset.
- Wyatt: Penn State gets the win against USC on the road.
- CFB 25: Three Drew Allar turnovers gives the Trojans the big win at home, 34-20
California Bears at Pittsburgh Panthers – Sat. Oct. 12, 2:30 PM, ESPN
- Anthony: Cal had the heartbreaking loss last week and the hangover from hosting GameDay and now has to travel across the country for an undefeated Pitt. Panthers continue undefeated.
- Austin: If the Bears would’ve beaten the Hurricanes last week, College Football would’ve gone in a tailspin. Instead, California plays well once again and knocks off the Pitt Panthers on the East Coast.
- Drew: Cal was robbed out of a win last week over Miami and I have them rebounding on the road against Pitt.
- Russ: Panthers remain unbeaten with a home win.
- Wyatt: Pitt beats Cal in a thriller.
- CFB 25: Pitt with an incredible 4th quarter comeback, scoring 13 points in the final 5 minutes to win 23-13.
Ohio State Buckeyes at Oregon Ducks – Sat. Oct. 12, 6:30 PM, NBC
- Anthony: Autzen is great and this should be an immaculate atmosphere, but Ohio State is another tier above the Ducks. Buckeyes run away with it.
- Austin: Ohio State is the better team here and the Buckeyes get it done in Eugene.
- Drew: Jeremiah Smith has gone somewhat under the radar as a superstar freshman wide receiver because of the big plays made by fellow true freshman Ryan Williams in big games. I think he grabs national attention with a big game in a win over Oregon.
- Russ: What a matchup. I think the talent shines brightest here for Ohio State.
- Wyatt: Ohio State and Texas are the top teams to beat in College Football. I think they win it on the road in Eugene.
- CFB 25: Ohio State dominates the day with an easy 40-21 win, powered by a pair of pick-sixes
Ole Miss Rebels at LSU Tigers – Sat. Oct. 12, 6:30 PM, ABC
- Anthony: Tigers have been flying under the radar since dropping the season opener. The night game in Baton Rouge is enough to give LSU the win and a return to the national picture
- Austin: This game is a coin flip. Both teams have rebounded well after their sole losses this season. I’m siding with the Ole Miss Rebels in a battle between 5-1 and 4-1.
- Drew: This feels like the year Ole Miss needs to make a run in the SEC with a talented, veteran roster, and Alabama and Georgia already having lost conference games. I’ll take Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss here.
- Russ: I envision a lot of points here, with Ole Miss escaping victorious.
- Wyatt: Jaxson Dart does just enough to give the Rebels the edge to win against LSU.
- CFB 25: The Tigers take the Magnolia Bowl in dominant fashion. winning 30-14
