The Horned Frogs add a veteran rusher to their backfield for 2025.
TCU football signed a pair of weapons on offense Tuesday morning. One of those weapons will be former UTSA running back Kevorian Barnes, who rushed for 1,803 yards and 14 touchdowns and averaged 4.9 yards per carry over four seasons with the Roadrunners. Barnes will bolster a TCU backfield that has lost a pair of running backs in former Arkansas transfer Dominique Johnson and sophomore Cam Cook. The 5-foot-9, 210-pounder from San Augustine, Texas caught 31 passes for 235 yards over his four years with UTSA.
I just want to thank @TCUFootball and their amazing staff for having me on my very first/only official visit!! @FBCoachJSmith #GoFrogs pic.twitter.com/A6Xzqmt0mp

Barnes broke out during the 2022 season, when he rushed for 851 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards per carry. Barnes turned in a solid 2023 season, rushing for 715 yards and six touchdowns and averaging 4.9 yards per carry. UTSA struggled on the ground this season, as Barnes was held to 221 yards and two scores on 78 carries. Nevertheless, Barnes brings experience and productivity to a Horned Frog offense that rotated several running backs including Trent Battle and freshman Jeremy Payne.
