The sophomore and former four-star recruit rushed for 460 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
TCU football suffered two losses to its offensive backfield on Tuesday. After news broke during the morning that junior running back Dominique Johnson would be entering the transfer portal after one season with the Horned Frogs, sophomore running back Cam Cook announced on X that he will be departing after two seasons in Fort Worth. A former four-star recruit from a 2023 class that has now lost most of its top talent, Cook rushed for 460 yards and nine touchdowns during the 2024 campaign, averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

Cook played sparingly as a freshman, rushing for 58 yards on 16 carries over nine games during the 2023 season. The Round Rock, Texas native took on a much bigger role this season, opening as TCU’s starting running back and leading the team with 116 carries. Cook took on a small role in the passing game, catching 18 balls for 75 yards. The sophomore running back struggled with fumbles this season, coughing up the ball three times and losing two of them. Cook’s playing time decreased over the second half of the season, as he averaged less than six carries per game after the installation of the Savion Williams-led wildcat formation. The former four-star recruit will depart with two years of eligibility.
