Banks started his career at Texas A&M before playing four seasons with the Horned Frogs.
TCU football concluded the regular season with a 20-13 win at Cincinnati on Saturday evening. As the Horned Frogs prepare for their upcoming bowl game, there will be action in the transfer portal over the next several weeks, when players will made decisions on whether or not they’ll return to the program next season. TCU has already lost offensive lineman Marcus Williams to the transfer portal and another veteran announced his decision to leave the program earlier today, when senior linebacker Shad Banks Jr. shared a post to X that he will enter the portal on Dec. 9. Banks Jr. spent four seasons with the Horned Frogs.
I will be entering the transfer portal on Dec 9th.

Banks Jr. made one of the highlight plays during the 2021 season, intercepting a pass from Baylor’s Gerry Bohanon that allowed TCU to upset Baylor at Amon G. Carter Stadium under interim head coach Jerry Kill, who took over after the university and former head coach Gary Patterson parted ways. Banks Jr. had a career-best season in 2023, totaling 62 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss while adding one sack and one forced fumble. Banks Jr. appeared in 41 games over the last four seasons, but injuries limited him to only four games this season.
