
JP Richardson, Brent Matiscik and LaMareon James all inked deals over the weekend.
TCU saw two players taken in the 2025 NFL Draft over the weekend, with Jack Bech heading to the Las Vegas Raiders as a second-round selection and Savion Williams landing in Green Bay as a third-round selection by the Packers. While Bech and Williams were the only TCU players drafted, three Horned Frogs received undrafted free agent contracts. Among the undrafted signees are wide receiver JP Richardson (Chicago Bears), long snapper Brent Matiscik (Cleveland Browns) and cornerback LaMareon James (Cleveland Browns).

Richardson will compete for a roster spot with the Bears after compiling nearly 1,300 receiving yards and five touchdowns over his two years with the Horned Frogs. The former Oklahoma State transfer hauled in 46 catches for 536 yards and three touchdowns in 2023 before reeling in 57 catches for 733 yards and two touchdowns in 2024. Richardson arrived in Fort Worth after two seasons at Oklahoma State, where he grabbed 49 receptions for 503 yards and four touchdowns in 2022. The 6-foot, 195-pounder is a two-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, once as a wide receiver and once as a kick returner/punt returner.

James earned an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in his lone season with the Horned Frogs after transferring in from Old Dominion. James led the Big 12 and tied for second nationally with 14 pass breakups during the 2024 season. The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder from Norfolk, Virginia started all 13 games and totaled 35 tackles with one interception against Kansas. At Old Dominion, James recorded 87 tackles, eight pass breakups and two interceptions over three seasons and was also a standout on special teams, serving as a return specialist.

Matiscik was invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine as a specialist after a lengthy run with the Horned Frogs. A converted tight end, Matiscik spent six seasons in Fort Worth and served as TCU’s starting snapper for three years. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder from McKinney, Texas was voted a team captain in 2024, was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and an Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honoree.
