The son of former Horned Frog tight end Matt Schobel flips his commitment from Oklahoma State.
Another member of the Schobel family will be wearing the purple and white when TCU takes the field for the 2025 season. The Horned Frogs have flipped four-star quarterback Adam Schobel, who’s the son of former TCU tight end Matt Schobel and the nephew of former TCU defensive lineman Aaron Schobel. Both Matt and Aaron enjoyed long NFL careers, with Matt playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles between 2002 and 2008 while Aaron played for the Buffalo Bills from 2001-09. Adam is also the cousin of three-star EDGE recruit John Schobel, who has already pledged for the Horned Frogs.
I have been a TCU fan since the day I was born and when they called, I quickly realized it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. An opportunity to play alongside my cousin at my parent’s alma mater… With that being said, I will be signing with TCU in December!! pic.twitter.com/WuNc2Na8yB

Both Adam and John Schobel hail from Columbus, Texas and play their high school football for Columbus High School. Adam, who ranks as the No. 19 quarterback nationally and the No. 34 prospect in the state of Texas under the 247Sports composite system, led Columbus to a 12-1 record and threw for 2,405 yards, 30 touchdowns and four interceptions as a junior in 2023. Adam’s successful sophomore campaign in 2022 included over 2,800 passing yards as well as 36 touchdowns and four interceptions. As a freshman in 2021, Adam was named the Texas District 12-3A D-I Newcomer of the Year, throwing for 2,440 yards and 28 touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder is now TCU’s third-highest ranked recruit for 2025.
The Horned Frogs flipped Adam from Oklahoma State, where he had been committed since April 2024. It’s a welcome addition to the 2025 class for the Horned Frogs, who lost their pledge from another four-star quarterback in Ty Hawkins, who flipped to SMU earlier this month. TCU currently has 22 players committed for the 2025 recruiting cycle.
