The Horned Frogs flipped the Utah signee, who announced his pledge to TCU on Friday.
TCU football added a significant piece to the secondary on Friday afternoon, securing a pledge from four-star cornerback and former Utah Utes signee Deon Mays. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from Arlington, Texas signed in December 2024 before de-committing from the Utes on April 8. Although Mays ranks as a three-star prospect in the 247Sports composite, he holds a four-star rating with Rivals and is a top-50 corner in the 2025 class.

Mays, who played his high school football at Arlington, has track speed with wind-legal times of 10.56 and 10.59 seconds in the 100-meter dash from last spring. A Texas 6A regional qualifier in track and field, Mays posted a time of 10.20 seconds this spring and held offers from several programs including BYU and San Diego State before signing with Utah in December. Mays joins a class that includes talented defensive backs such as Micah Strickland, Cameron Jamerson, Jonah Martinez, Gil Jackson and many more.
