Consensus First Team All-American Steve Avila anchored the offensive line for TCU’s 2022 College Football Playoff run
79 | Esteban “Steve” Avila (2018-2022)
One of the most decorated and highest performing lineman to ever suit up for the Horned Frogs, Steve Avila’s versatility, athleticism, and leadership helped pave the path for TCU’s run to the College Football Playoff National Championship game in his senior season.
A three-star prospect out of South Grand Prairie, Avila became a Swiss Army knife along the offensive line, spending time at right tackle, right guard, left guard, and center. Leading the Frogs in snaps played, Avila did not allow a single sack over his final two seasons – 26 games played – earning All-Big 12 honors both years. During his junior campaign, Avila spent most of the season at center before transitioning to LG when new coach Sonny Dykes and offensive coordinator Garrett Riley took over for the 2022 season.
The Los Angeles Rams selected Avila with the 36th overall pick in the 2nd Round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Avila played every offensive snap for the Rams in 2023, starting all 17 games at left guard, performing as one of the top offensive linemen and top rookies in the NFL, earning All-Rookie Team honors from the Pro Football Writers Association.
