The least used number of the last 25 years, last worn by OG Garrett Altman in 2017
63 Days until TCU Football!
The number 63 is an exclusive club, the least used non-retired number over the last quarter-century, it has not been worn in-game by a Horned Frog since 2016, worn by two-time Academic All-American Garrett Altman who saw action as a reserve interior offensive lineman and is currently serving as an offensive analyst on the Vanderbilt football staff. The number has only been assigned to four players since 1998, combining for a total of 43 games played between Altman (2013-2017), Justin Trejo (2008-2012), Heath Raetz (2003-2007), and Brady Barrick (1998-2002).
There have been a few notable Horned Frogs to don the 63 over the years, including lineman Hal Lambert who starred in the early 50s, contributing to a Southwest Conference Championship in 1951 before being drafted by Philadelphia Eagles 69th overall in the 1954 NFL Draft. Also to wear the 63 was James Ray, an All-SWC guard in the late 1960s. Perhaps some member of the 2025 recruiting class will take on the number 63 and cement a new legacy for the oft forgotten number.
