A two-time First Team All-Mountain West OT, Marcus Cannon won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots
61 | OL Marcus Cannon (2006-2010)
Arriving in Fort Worth as a 6-foot-4, 287-pound three-star guard out of Odessa, TX in 2006 and grew into a 6-foot-6, 358-pound brick wall by his pro day after five seasons with the Horned Frogs. After a redshirt first season in Fort Worth, Cannon played in every game of the 2007 season in a reserve role before hitting the starting lineup at Right Tackle in 2008, earning Honorable Mention All-MWC. Cannon would truly break out in 2009, earning First Team All-MWC honors starting every game at RT, aiding the Horned Frogs undefeated regular season and Mountain West Championship. In 2010, Cannon moved over to the Left Tackle position and again was First Team All-MWC as the Horned Frogs would again complete an undefeated season, culminating in a Rose Bowl performance where Cannon would shut down All-American & Lott Trophy winner defensive lineman J.J. Watt as the Horned Frogs lifted the trophy and finished ranked No. 2 in the final polls.
Cannon was in line to be an early round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, but during medical tests in the pre-draft process he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, dropping off of many draft boards and causing a fall in the draft. Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots took a chance on Cannon in the Fifth Round with pick 138. It would be a fruitful selection for the Pats as Cannon would go on to spend 12 years in the NFL (11 in New England), playing 124 games and winning three Super Bowls
